2FM Breakfast Doggy Dash for Cian’s Kennels
This Easter Sunday, 3rd of April, the 2FM Breakfast Doggy Dash is taking place, in aid of Cian’s Kennels. This is a brilliant idea, that Petfix wants to help raise awareness of!
What is Cian’s Kennels?
Cian Kennels is an incredible charity, set up in loving memory of Cian Neary, who very sadly passed away in 2019, aged 15. Cian was diagnosed with hepatosplenic T cell lymphoma in September 2018. He was about to commence on the road to bone marrow transplant when he became very ill in June 2019 and spent the next 3 months in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, with the family based at Ronald McDonald House for most of this time.
While Cian was in the hospital, he longed for his dog Cooper. His family managed to bring Cooper to live in the kennels nearby. Cian visited Cooper most days, which brought him so much joy, and his family want to be able to provide this joy to many other families in hospital, through Cian’s Kennels. The charity aims to set up an area within the grounds of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, that would facilitate some of the children spending precious time with their beloved pets, while allowing the pets to stay in kennels down the road at night time. They also hope to have a boarding kennel on the grounds of the new Children’s Hospital. See their plans here.
What Can You Do?
On Easter Saturday 3rd April, RTE 2FM are hosting the Doggy Dash. They are asking people to walk 1km, 2km or 5km (while staying within your 5k radius!) and donating to the GoFundMe page.
All this week, if you make a donation to the GoFundMe, Doireann Garrihy is giving out a year-long subscription, a €100 voucher for PetfixShop.ie and Petfix Food! Make sure to donate, and listen in to win!
Petfix are very excited to be welcoming Doireann Garrihy onto Petfix Club’s IGTV tomorrow night, Wednesday the 31st of March at 7 pm to discuss her dog (Petfix Club member!) Bertie, and for a Q+A with Petfix vet Pete Wedderburn. The pair will also be discussing the fundraiser, along with fussy eating, and doggy behaviour! Tune in on the Petfix Club Instagram.
