Does my dog need an operation on his broken pelvis?

My terrier was hit by a car last week. The xrays show that his pelvis is broken in two places but the vet says he doesn’t need an operation. Should I look for a second opinion?

The bones of the pelvis are protected and stabilised by cushions of muscles, and many pelvic fractures heal very well with just rest and time. There are a few specific fractures that do require surgical stabalisation but your vet would be aware of these, and would advise you accordingly if they were present.
