Does my indoor cat still need to be vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas?

Q

My cat is an indoor pet; she never goes outside at all. Does she still need to be vaccinated, wormed and treated for fleas?

A

You should discuss this in detail with your own vet. The right answer depends on some specifics. In general, she still needs to be vaccinated from time to time, as you could bring in a virus on your shoes, clothing or hands (e.g. after petting someone else’s cat). I would still give her a worm dose (e.g. once a year) to be completely safe, but if you can see no sign of fleas or itchiness, there’s usually no need to treat her for these.
