What could a straw-like object protruding from under a stray cats tail be?
Q
I have half-adopted a shy local stray cat, and I have been seeing more of him since my own 18 year old cat died. Sometimes, I see a small straw-like object protruding from under his tail. It stays for a week then goes away. What could this be? He seems fine otherwise and I worm him regularly.
A
Cats often eat small quantities of grass, and this passes through the digestive tract intact, so it’s common to see bits of vegetation like this being passed in the faeces. Longer pieces of grass may protrude for a while before being fully passed. As long as he is not upset by this, there’s nothing to worry about.
