What type of milk should I give my cat?
Q
My cat loves drinking milk. Can I give her normal milk or should I use the “cat milk” that you can buy in pet shops?
A
Adult cats don’t produce high levels of lactase, the enzyme needed to digest the sugar in milk, and some become “lactose intolerant”, developing an upset digestive system after drinking milk. For most cats, a small saucer of milk is fine, but if you are giving more than this, it would be safest to use the special milk designed to be digestible by cats.
