Why has my kitten been itching at her ears?

My kitten has been itching at her ears since I adopted her two weeks ago. The breeder said she has already been treated for ear mites. What else could it be?

Ear mites can be surprisingly difficult to cure: applying ear drops for a few days is often not enough. While the drops are effective at killing adult mites, they do not kill mite eggs, so you need to continue to apply the drops regularly until any mite eggs have hatched out, which can mean for up to three weeks. Talk to your vet about the details of eradicating these troublesome mites.
